Raku Horse Pitcher with actual Horse Hair
This vessel is designed after our Tennessee Walking horse Sookie. I even finished it with some of her own tail hair. The process is a type of Raku firing.
The vessel is heated to 1250 degrees then taken out of the electric kiln and draped with horse hair to create a carbon burn trail. Check out the video of its creation HERE .
Due to the nature of the firing this piece is porous and therefore not food safe.
