Obvara Octopus Tile
This tile came out of our last Raku firing in with we experimented with a new technique called Obvara. This process involves taking the pottery from a 1500 degree kiln and dunking it in a fermented mixture of flour, yeast, sugar and water. The experience was delightfully volatile and the results were a beautiful natural effect similar to what you might find on an ancient piece of pottery.
This piece is 8x8" . It was originally designed to be grouted into a tiled wall but it can be framed or hung with the proper tools.
