Raku Seahorse Pitcher (SOLD)
This piece has been through the firing process called Raku. The process involves bringing the glazed piece up to 1850 degrees and then taking it directly from the heated kiln to a reduction chamber filled with flammables. When the chamber is on fire it is then covered to smother the flames and reduce the oxygen which gives the piece a beautifully random glazed effect.
As expected with a Raku firing, the thermal shock coming out of the kiln is extreme. This produces small cracks in the vessel and crazing in the glaze. These are not flaws but add to the beauty of the piece, However it is not food safe. Size is Approximately 15"tall.
